1. How should I introduce you?

I am Shilpa. I am the Founder of Dyehome & Sanrekha.

I use Nature to create delightful Art & promote Indian Craftsmanship. I am super curious & that works wonders for me as an artist.

2. What does your work aim to say/do?

My work aims to promote everything handmade & stay close to nature as much as possible.

3. Book recommendations

Rich dad poor dad.

4. What purchase of Rs. 5,000/- or less has most positively impacted your life in the last six months (or in recent memory)?

My recent purchase of more  iCloud space. I get so much work done from my phone, from product shoots to ideation & meetings. I need all the space.

5. How has failure or apparent failure set you up for later success?

Failures or setbacks have always pushed me to continue to work hard , just in the right direction this time.

6. If you could have a gigantic billboard anywhere with anything on it - metaphorically speaking, getting a message to millions, what would it say and why?

You become what you think

7. What is the best or most worthwhile investment you’ve ever made? Could be investment of money, time, energy, etc

I collect every possible small looking thing and  waste and flowers and leaves. Since my childhood. Now i just happened to learn to make money from this habit

8. In the last 5 years, what have you become better at saying no to (distractions, invitations, etc)?

I have definitely learnt to say ‘no’ to relations/friendships that don’t nurture me. Also a big “no” to the need to fit in.

9. When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, what do you do?

I allow myself to take breaks without any guilt. I travel or do nothing.

10. What should I ask you that I didn’t know enough to ask?

You could have asked , if I always knew I wanted to do what I do. And the answer would be ‘No’ . I never knew what I do at Dyehome even exists. And today I wouldn’t trade my choices for anything:)
